Alessandro del Piero will remain with Inter as they look to win the Serie A title on Sunday.
The Italian international has been linked with a move to Milan as the Bianconeri prepare for their Champions League clash with Milan on Thursday, but Inter president Walter Sabatini has revealed that the Rossoneri are only interested in keeping the 26-year-old.
“I cannot say anything more, but we want to keep him here and hope that he will keep with us,” Sabatinis statement said.
“He’s a player with a great future and is an integral part of our squad, and we will keep him for another year.”
“It’s important that we can be confident about what we are doing, because he is one of our most important players,” Sabati added.
“We need to keep the same attitude and work hard to improve our squad and this is the way we are heading in the right direction.”
“We have an incredible opportunity, because we are in a fantastic position in terms of the amount of money we are spending and we know that we are going to do well.”
Inter have been linked to Del Pieros departure from Milan this summer after they failed to qualify for the Champions League.
But, following a 3-1 home defeat to Roma, the Rossonese have been forced to turn their attention to the Serie B title.
The Biancones are in the hunt to avoid relegation from the top flight, while Milan are chasing a Champions League place.
