Dayton, Ohio (WGRV) — A 30-year-old man was sentenced Friday to life behind bars for the shooting death of his wife and two children in Dayton, killing both of them.
Deputies say 22-year old D.J. Thomas was out in the gas station parking lot of the Gaslight gas station in Dayton when he came across his wife, Toni Thomas, who was working there.
Thomas told deputies he was at a gun show with his girlfriend, 21-year -old Ashley Thomas, when they were attacked.
Thomas allegedly shot Toni multiple times and then himself.
Toni Thomas’ son, Caleb, was also shot in the leg.
Both are expected to recover from their injuries.TBI Director John Foti said Friday that the shooting was random and that Thomas shot Tani after she refused to get off the ground.
The TBI says it will be investigating this case as a homicide.
Thomas is being held in the Hamilton County Jail on a $1 million bond.
