ABC News reported Sunday that “most of the candidates running for the GOP nomination” are not taking “fake news” seriously.
According to the survey, more than one-third of the Republican presidential hopefuls are either “unwilling” or “unlikely” to take a media-related action.
The top three candidates who do take the “fake-news” seriously are Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and former Florida Gov.
Jeb Bush (R).
Trump’s most recent tweet about the media comes in response to CNN reporting that he has called the network “fake” and a “fraud.”
The candidate who is the least likely to take the fake-news threat seriously is former Sen. Rick Santorum (R), who is not running for president.
Trump has faced numerous negative attacks in the past, but he has also faced criticism for his comments about the size of his inauguration crowd.
On Saturday, Trump said, “If I win, I am going to get even with CNN.”
On Saturday, the CNN anchor Jake Tapper responded by saying, “What’s your opinion of the size?
Are you going to say he’s overstating it?”
Tapper responded, “No, he is not.”
Trump then asked, “Jake, would you be willing to give the media credit for reporting that you’re overstated it?”
The former presidential candidate responded, “…
I would be very, very interested in hearing your thoughts on that.”
Trump’s tweet has also prompted a backlash from media outlets.
In a statement to ABC News, NBC News said, “”It’s a great question, Jake.
I am not a journalist and I’m not a politician.
But I have to say, the question is not whether the press is fake news, it’s whether or not they’re being honest.
“A CNN spokesperson told ABC News that Trump is not “a journalist,” but a media personality and that the network is “unaware of any reporting that would indicate he is a media figure.”ABC News also asked the candidates to respond to the report.
Bush said, ”I am not going to take any more fake news.
It’s not worth my time.””
I would love to see the media report the facts, not what the president or his surrogates are telling the press, the media or other candidates about what happened on Saturday, but the facts,” Santorum said.
Tapper also responded to Trump by saying that he would be willing “to give the press credit for a story that was completely fabricated and false.”
Tapper added, “I would be happy to hear your thoughts about that.
But the truth is, it wasn’t.”
