A Knoxville, Tennessee, man has been arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly shooting at a church and the home of a local pastor with a handgun.
A Knoxville police officer said Sunday that 26-year-old Austin E. Brown was arrested at his home in the 1700 block of Main Street in Knoxville around 3 p.m.
He is charged with aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Police said they got a 911 call from a man in the church parking lot saying that someone was shooting and that Brown was in the parking lot.
He said he had heard shots, and the church had a smoke machine, so he went inside and found Brown shooting.
He was taken to the hospital and later charged with assault with the deadly weapon, police said.
Brown’s next court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
