Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe says that his company is building a virtual reality headset with the goal of transforming the way people interact with the web.
The company has already shown a prototype at its annual developer conference and is currently in the process of making a major push to introduce the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive virtual reality headsets in the first half of 2019.
It is also developing a mobile version of the Oculus platform that will be available later this year.
The VR industry has been booming over the last year with companies like Facebook, Amazon and Microsoft all releasing VR headsets.
Iribe said that in the coming years the technology will be able to transform the way we interact with our data, and even the way our minds.
“There are many more opportunities in virtual reality than just the Rift and Vive,” he said.
“There are a lot of other interesting platforms to consider.”
He said that there are already a few major tech companies who are developing VR products, and it’s a long road ahead for the VR industry.
One of those is Google, which announced a virtual-reality headset for its Android smartphones earlier this year, but hasn’t said much about the company’s plans for a VR headset.
